Rebound

App and Identity

My Activation project was called Rebound. Rebound was an app/company I created that is for people with a serious injury to use in order to help them mentally persevere through the various challenges that come with said injuries.

The app includes a “Chat” feature in which the user can talk to one of our staff to work through whatever questions they have about their recovery and/or logistical issues they have with appointments and other life matters.

The “Calendar” feature is also a key component of the app as it allows the user to clearly and concisely organise all their different commitments now that they have to include rehab and exercises into their already busy lives.

The “Merchandise” is another big part of the whole project. The merch was designed in light of the current trends of the active wear trends with the minimalistic approach. The merch utilises the colour palette, logos and key phrases in a trendy way that will appeal to the users of “Rebound”.

Posters were also made to advertise the app, help direct people toward the app but also to remind the people struggling with a long-term injury that they aren’t alone and to keep showing up and bettering themselves in order to get back to normal as quickly as possible

Identity

In this project I was tasked to create a brand identity for a charity of my choice. I chose  Lorne 2 Fairhaven 4 Mental Health, which is an ironman like event run on the Surf Coast, VIC which is run by my friend James McGlashan. James started the event in 2019 due to the unfortunate passing of his mate Finley Dale. The event attempts to raise money and awareness towards mental health and more specifically mens mental health by giving all the proceeds of the event to Movember.

The event itself is a physical challenge that consists of a 14km board paddle, 32km bike ride and a 16km run along the Great Ocean Road between Lorne and Fairhaven. Participants can do which ever leg of the challenge they wish whether it be just the run or even all 3.

I created a Brand Book, which consists of the brand guidelines and applications that will be used to promote the event but also will be used by the participants and viewers on the day of the challenge. The applications range from posters and billboards to social media tiles and a website.

Batteries Go Boom

Identity and Prospectus

For the Road Safety Project we were tasked to create an identity for the National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP) to use in order to raise awareness of the dangers Electric Truck Fires in Australia. They insisted on not “shock and awe” tactics which meant the identity can be playful but still direct to the consumer.

With this in mind I wanted to create the name/logo in light of this playfulness that the NRSPP are after, which is how I came up with, “Batteries Go Boom.” It”s fun and seemingly trivial, yet the topic it represents is very important and can help save lives for truck drivers and other road users.

My identity is based predominantly on the colour palette and the icons I created in partnership with the taglines and logo. The red and yellow colour palette is drawn straight from a fire and the icons are a mixture of dash warning lights and other relevant shapes to truck fires.

Logo design

The owner of the local painting business reached out to me to design a logo for his business.

He operates out of Torquay and works all along the Surf Coast of Victoria as well as Geelong. The ocean is a massive part of everybody’s lives who live in that area, hence the name of the business as a play on words with the wind direction most commonly associated with “bad surf conditions”, meaning he works when the waves aren’t on.

In order to represent that in my final design I created a wave that drips into paint over the top of the name of the business.
